Alabama Pharmacy Technician Training Programs

If you want to work as a pharmacy technician in the state of Alabama, you are required to register with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy. While there are no education requirements for Alabama pharmacists—at least legally, most employers prefer candidates with a certificate or degree, in addition to training in the field.

According to Alabama law, employers are also required to have at least one certified pharmacy technician if the establishment has three or more technicians. The technician must be certified by a board approved certification program.

To register with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy, technicians must:

- Be of seventeen (17) years of age or older;

- Submit a written pharmacy technician application to the Alabama State Board of

Pharmacy requesting a registration as a pharmacy technician, pay appropriate

registration fee, and receive registration certification BEFORE working in a

pharmacy

Alabama pharmacy technicians are also required to complete three hours of continuing education annually, of which one hour shall be live presentation.
