Louisiana Pharmacy Technician Training Programs
To become a pharmacy technician in the state of Louisiana, individuals must meet a number of requirements. In addition to passing a State and Federal criminal background check, aspiring pharmacy technicians must be:
-At least 18 years of age
-A High school graduate
-Of good moral character and non-impaired
The Louisiana Board of Pharmacy also requires the following:
-Education: Candidates shall be enrolled in a Board-approved Pharmacy Technician Training Program or currently possess a certificate from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
-Experience: Candidates shall earn at least 600 hours in a Louisiana-permitted pharmacy which is not on probation, with at least 200 of those hours earned during the structured training program
-Examination: Candidates shall pass the examination administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
*Applicants may not perform technician functions or earn any hours until a registration has been issued. Registrations are valid for 18-months and are NOT renewable.
