Pharmacy instruction began at Howard University in 1868 in the “Department of Medicine.” Today, the College of Pharmacy offers a variety of in-demand programs for aspiring pharmacy industry professionals. It is also the country's second oldest university of pharmacy. Home to more than 6,000 students, MCPHS University offers programs at its campuses in Boston, Worcester, and Manchester, as well as online through the recently launched MCPHS online.

Established in 1992 “to meet the growing need for physicians,” Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) is the nation’s largest medical college. The School has campuses in Erie, PA, Greensburg, PA, and Bradenton, FL and it is home to 2,200 students. Programs are offered through the College of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine, and the School of Pharmacy.

Established as the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy in 1886, the Long Island University Pharmacy (LIU Pharmacy) is the oldest unit of Long Island University and one of the largest private colleges of pharmacy in the country. Housed at the 11-acre downtown Brooklyn Campus, the College became affiliated with the University in 1929 and merged with the Brooklyn Campus in 1976. St. John's College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences was established in 1929 as the College of Pharmacy.
